The Denver Y's Diversity, Inclusion and Global Innovation Committee was at the forefront of the organization's accomplishments and improved dedication to diversity and equity. To demonstrate the YMCA's commitment to diversity in all aspects of the nonprofit's scope, the 2017 Annual Report incorporated visuals that reflect togetherness and connection.

 

The overlapping photos throughout are reminiscent of Venn diagrams and emphasize the relationship building that Y programs and membership foster. After an opening letter, the publication features individuals and familys whose lives have changed for the better because of their respective Y programs and experiences. Each of these stories are accompanied by several illustrated numbers and direct quotes to show impact.

Similarly to my previous YMCA Annual Reports, every photo featured in the 2017 publication was taken and edited by me. I truly enjoy this portrait and interview process, both for how it enhances the final product of the report, and for the opportunity it provides to meet people in my community who've improved their lives at the Y.
